Mat Washes & Cleaners
How often should I clean my mat?
This all depends on the type of mat you have and how intense and sweaty your practices get. A quick wipe down after every practice is recommended but for more intense workouts a more thorough clean may be required. We recommend doing a deep clean every 4-6 weeks.
All of this can vary quite a lot though as different types of yoga can lead to different levels of sweat and perspiration.
Can I use essential oils on my mat?
Even though essential oils do behold cleaning and hygiene properties, we do not recommend using them in mat washes as these oils can seep into your mat and cause a greasy slipperiness. This can can cause irreversible damage to the body of the mat and the grip on top. If you are wanting to pop a few drops of oil onto your mat, you can always drop a few little spots in the corners, or in an area that will not come into contact with your hands or feet.
Alcohol & bleach
We do not recommend cleaning any of our yoga mats with anything alcohol or bleach based. These chemicals can sometimes prove too harsh and will beging to strip your mat and affect the grip. Keep it light and keep it natural if you can.
